Playtest Magazine is a new board game magazine launching Fall/Winter 2025, featuring long form content and previews of in-development games. Every issue will include a playable gift–a small board game, expansion, or other board game merch.

Writers & Board Game Designers

Playtest Magazine is in active development, and open to queries. Content of particular interest include:

• Essays on the design or history of board games from those with particular expertise. Areas of particular interest include social justice, accessibility, and mechanics.
• Design journal entries discussing part of the development thought process for already published or not yet published board games. Definitely get nerdy.
• Unboxings with design discussion of board games from decades ago.
• Interviews with board game notables.
